Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and KB Kookmin Bank, and organized by the Association of People Making Small Libraries, the ‘Small Library Creation Project’ aims to establish community-based libraries in culturally underserved areas. This year, the Dodam Dodam Small Library in Wando-eup was selected.
This is the second selection since the creation of the Jindallae Small Library in Yaksan-myeon in 2018. With this project selection, the Dodam Dodam Small Library in Wando-eup will receive remodeling support worth approximately 150 million KRW.
The remodeling plans include transforming existing unused spaces into new areas, replacing wooden bookshelves, desks, and the information desk to provide a comfortable reading environment.
According to the agreement, KB Kookmin Bank will provide sponsorship funds for the library creation, the Association of People Making Small Libraries will support the establishment and operation of the small libraries, and Wando-gun will secure operational personnel and budgets, as well as regularly purchase books.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol stated, “The role of libraries is being emphasized to meet the increasingly high cultural standards of our residents,” adding, “The county will strive to revitalize library operations to provide a high-quality reading environment.”
