Sinan-gun Develops 6 Types of Gimbap to Showcase at the World Gimbap Festa

Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced on the 16th that it developed six types of Shinan Gimbap to be showcased at the ‘2024 Shinan World Gimbap Festa’ and conducted technical training on the 15th at the Shinan Agricultural Products Processing Center for about 30 members of the Gimbap Research Association.

This training involved the county and Shinan Gimbap research members making various types of gimbap, selecting six varieties, sharing the same recipes among members, and conducting practical training so that anyone can reproduce the same taste.

The six types of gimbap developed this time are Shinan Salt Gimbap＋Green Onion Kimchi, Shinan Plain Gimbap, Shinan Garden Gimbap, Shinan Onion Gimbap, Shinan Sea Gimbap, and Shinan Skate Cutlet Gimbap. They were made using the county’s excellent agricultural and marine products such as green onions, onions, abalone, seaweed (tot), and skate. At the Gimbap Festa to be held on the 27th, these will be sold to visitors at prices of 2,000 KRW, 4,000 KRW, and 7,000 KRW per type, offering an enjoyable experience of choosing and tasting at affordable prices.

Kim Hyo-jung, the chairperson who participated in the training, said, “We worked hard to learn and master the various flavors of Shinan Gimbap to show to the visitors who will come to the festival,” adding, “We will do our best to make the Shinan World Gimbap Festa a success.”

The 2024 Shinan World Gimbap Festa will be held for two days from the 27th to the 28th at the 1004 Museum Park in Jaeun-myeon. The festival will feature various programs including the Shinan K-Gimbap World Cup gimbap competition, master chef food shows, experience booths, flea markets, the “Belly-Bursting Gimbap Party Zone” selling Shinan Gimbap, the Gimbap Picnic Garden rest area, a children’s playground, and an exhibition space/photo zone.
