Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters has signed an agreement with the Radiation Emergency Medical Center of the Southeast Nuclear Medical Institute (Director Song Ju-yeon) for the 'Visiting Medical Consultation and Radiation Education Project.'
After signing the agreement for the 'Visiting Medical Consultation and Radiation Education Project,' officials from the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center, and Ilgwang Elementary School are taking a commemorative photo.
The 'Visiting Medical Consultation and Radiation Education Project' is a program in which the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters supports 35 million KRW for purchasing medical equipment and other necessary expenses, and the professional medical staff of the Southeast Nuclear Medical Institute directly visit village halls and schools near nuclear power plants to provide basic health checkups, medical consultations, and radiation education.
Started in 2020 and now in its fifth year, this project plans to purchase an arteriosclerosis tester this year to provide practical help for customized health management targeting local residents in medical blind spots.
Additionally, the radiation education conducted last week at Ilgwang Elementary School focused on behavior guidelines during radiation emergencies and instructions for living in shelters during radiation disasters. The class, which utilized experiential teaching tools such as packing evacuation bags, received great enthusiasm from participating students.
Lee Kwang-hoon, head of the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, said, “We are pleased to continuously provide high-quality medical services to local residents through collaboration with the Southeast Nuclear Medical Institute, and we will continue to contribute to the health and welfare of the community through the implementation of substantial business support projects.”
