Widely Promote Patriotism and Community Service Activities to Citizens
On the 15th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 75th Marine Corps Foundation Anniversary Ceremony at the Marine Corps Origin Monument located in Jinhae-gu, Changwon City. The event was attended by about 200 people, including Jang Geum-yong, the 1st Deputy Mayor of Changwon Special City, Kim Tae-hoon, Commander of Jinhae Base, Choi Yoon-gu, Commander of the Land Guard Battalion, Marine Corps veterans and active-duty soldiers, and members of the Changwon City Council.
The event proceeded with the awarding of commendations to meritorious Marine comrades, commemorative speeches, congratulatory speeches, and the Marine Corps anthem. The attending active-duty Marines and veteran members reflected on the significance of the Marine Corps’ founding and resolved to establish the Marine spirit that meets the demands of the nation and citizens.
Kang Tae-gwan, President of the Marine Corps Jinhae Veterans Association, which hosted the event, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to all the guests here who have generously supported and encouraged the development of the Marine Corps Veterans Association. We will continue to do our best to inherit the efforts and challenging spirit established by senior Marines and contribute to the development of the local community.”
Deputy Mayor Jang said, “The Marine Corps has established an invincible Marine history with the Marine spirit of ‘Once a Marine, Always a Marine’ whenever the nation faces a crisis. I would like to once again thank the Marines for their hard work in practicing various volunteer activities, including crime prevention patrols and traffic order volunteer work for the safety of the local community, as well as defending the homeland.”
