New Training Program Established for Prospective Guides
Graduates Given Preference When Hiring Official Guides
An opportunity has been created to directly convey the value of Jeju Olle Trail to walking travelers.
The non-profit organization Jeju Olle announced on the 16th that it is recruiting participants for the '2024 Jeju Olle Guide Training Course.'
The 'Jeju Olle Guide Training Course' is a program designed to train prospective guides who wish to become official Jeju Olle guides. After completing the prescribed training, participants will conduct field practice at regional information centers, providing various information directly to walking travelers visiting the Olle Trail and helping them experience the values pursued by Jeju Olle.
The Jeju Olle Guide Training Course will include basic theoretical education about Jeju Olle, on-site inspections of the Olle Trail, simulated experience training to pre-enact the role of a guide, and field practice where participants can meet Olle walkers directly at the information centers. Graduates of the guide training course will be given preferential consideration when hiring official guides.
There are a total of 15 official Jeju Olle information centers: one at the airport, seven in the Jeju City area, and seven in the Seogwipo City area. These centers hold significant importance as the first places walking travelers visit when they want to walk the Jeju Olle Trail. For those who regularly enjoy walking the Olle Trail and wish to closely observe the duties of official guides, the 'Jeju Olle Guide Training Course' is expected to be a great opportunity to develop both basic theoretical knowledge for guiding and practical field skills.
Applicants of all genders and ages are welcome, but current official Jeju Olle guides and Olle Trail guardians are excluded. Completion of the Jeju Olle Academy training course and having completed the Olle Trail at least once are considered advantages. Applications for the '2024 Jeju Olle Guide Training Course' are open until the 21st. Detailed information about the training schedule and other matters is available on the Jeju Olle website's notice board.
Meanwhile, the Jeju Olle Trail began with the establishment of the non-profit organization Jeju Olle in 2007 and consists of 27 courses with a total length of 437 km. From 2012 until February of this year, 22,844 people have completed the entire trail.
Ahn Eun-joo, CEO of Jeju Olle, stated, "Official Jeju Olle guides frequently meet walking travelers on-site and play an important role in ensuring safe and proper guidance along the trail. We hope many applicants who sincerely want to become guides for walking travelers will apply through the guide training course."
