From the 11th to the 14th, Goseong County in Gyeongnam Province sent a delegation of five members, including Park Seong-jun, Deputy Governor of Goseong, and Lee Jeong-sook, a member of the Goseong County Council, to visit its international sister city, Zigong City in China.
This visit was initiated to discuss ways to revitalize exchanges between the sister cities and strengthen their friendship, taking advantage of the invitation to the ‘30th Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival’ in Zigong, China.
Goseong County and Zigong City have maintained active exchanges since 2006, including mutual delegation visits, youth exchanges, and reciprocal dispatch of public officials.
During the visit, a leaders’ meeting was held with six Zigong officials, including Wu Wei, Deputy Mayor of Zigong City, where both cities introduced themselves and had meaningful discussions on ways to enhance practical cooperation between the two cities in the future.
Additionally, the delegation visited △ Zigong Dinosaur Museum, China’s first dinosaur museum △ Zigong Longteng Cultural and Art Co., Ltd., a lantern manufacturing company △ Huvis factory, a Korean company located in Zigong △ Zigong Salt Industry History Museum, famous for salt production △ and Stanley Well, gaining a deeper understanding of Zigong City.
Deputy Governor Park said, “I hope that the cooperative relationship between the sister cities will become even stronger through this visit to Zigong City,” adding, “We will strive to resume exchange projects that were halted due to the COVID-19 situation and promote exchanges in various fields.”
