Agriculture Leads Change Smartly, Rural Areas Become More Attractive
On the 15th, Sacheon City in Gyeongnam held the "17th Sacheon Agricultural College Entrance Ceremony" at the Agricultural Technology Center's main conference room, attended by Mayor Park Dongsik, the dean of the Agricultural College, and about 100 trainees.
Since its inception in 2008, the Sacheon Agricultural College, now in its 17th year, runs from this month through November for 8 months, with each department holding classes once a week for a total of around 100 hours.
Additionally, to cultivate the region's top agricultural professionals, the program invites the nation's leading expert instructors and offers practical, field-oriented education designed to enhance on-site application skills.
Notably, this year’s trainees were selected through a screening process, with a total of 111 final candidates: 42 in the Specialized Crops Department, 34 in the Smart Agriculture Department, and 35 in the Healing Agriculture Department, surpassing 100 participants for the first time in 10 years.
Following the entrance ceremony, the Agricultural College hosted a meaningful session with lecturer Kwon Youngmin from the Kwon Youngmin Humanities Research Institute, who taught basic competencies that farmers should have by linking AI and agriculture.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, “We will continue to seek ways to further enhance the effectiveness of agricultural education so that trainees can establish themselves as professional agricultural managers representing the region.”
Meanwhile, Sacheon Agricultural College, aiming to nurture elite personnel to lead future agriculture, has produced 1,455 professional agricultural managers over 16 years since starting the persimmon course in 2008.
