"Telling a Stranger 'You Must Die'... 50-Year-Old Arrested in Namhae for 'Random Attack'"

A man in his 50s who attempted to kill a stranger he encountered late at night by wielding a weapon was arrested by the police.

The Namhae Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 15th that they arrested and detained Mr. A on charges of attempted murder for stabbing an apartment resident he did not know with a weapon.

According to the police, Mr. A is accused of stabbing Mr. B, a man in his 50s, in front of the elevator on the basement first floor parking lot of an apartment in Namhae-gun at around 11:30 p.m. on the 12th.

At the time, Mr. A reportedly swung a weapon he had at his residence at Mr. B, whom he encountered, saying, "You must die."

Mr. B, who was stabbed twice in the thigh and other areas, is known to have escaped to the apartment security office and saved his life.

The police, after receiving the report, identified the suspect through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and arrested Mr. A at his home in Namhae at around 12:10 a.m. on the 13th.

Mr. B was taken to the hospital for treatment and was confirmed to be in stable condition without life-threatening injuries.

The police are investigating the exact motive for the crime, believing that Mr. A committed the act due to a sense of victimization from being mistreated by people around him and a kind of social dissatisfaction.
