A Gathering to Collect Wisdom from Experts and Citizens
Jinju City in Gyeongnam will hold the 2024 Jinju Population Policy Seminar "Hope Again" at 10:30 a.m. on the 22nd in the Citizens' Hall on the 2nd floor of City Hall.
This seminar is designed as a time for experts and citizens to review Jinju's overall population policy and explore measures to respond to population decline. The improvement and development plans derived from the seminar will be actively reflected in addressing population issues.
▲ Analysis and Development Plans for Jinju's Population Policy (Professor Oh Jae-shin, Gyeongsang National University) ▲ Excellent Domestic and International Cases of Responding to Population Decline (Senior Researcher Shim In-seon, Gyeongnam Research Institute) ▲ Population Increase Directions That Citizens Empathize With (Lee Byung-yoon, Citizen Communication Committee Member) ▲ Jinju, a City Good for Raising Children (Je Hyeon-sook, Parent of Infants and Toddlers) ? these four topics will be presented by two experts and two citizen representatives respectively, with Professor Lee Moon-soo (Gyeongsang National University) serving as the chairperson.
In addition, there will be a time for sharing opinions to generate various ideas from citizens and a Q&A session to address questions about population policy.
Through this seminar, the city aims to evaluate the population policies implemented so far, exchange opinions on the future direction of Jinju, and deliver a positive message of hope to us amid the flood of negative data related to population.
Not ending as a simple one-time event, the city is planning more advanced and diverse events in the second half of the year, such as a family children's song contest commemorating Population Day.
Meanwhile, the city is promoting various population policies tailored to different life stages. These include marriage congratulatory money to encourage childbirth, health checkups for newlyweds, early pregnancy tests, nutritional supplements for pregnant women, support for eco-friendly agricultural product packages, first meeting coupons, childbirth congratulatory money (for purchasing baby products), postpartum care expenses support, and health management support for mothers and newborns. To reduce the burden of child-rearing, the city provides home care allowances and various childcare fee supports, 365-day part-time childcare services, operation of shared childcare centers, child allowance support, operation of all-inclusive care centers, and a children's book rental service.
Furthermore, to support the dreams and challenges of youth and adolescents, the city operates an after-school academy for youth, an online platform for Jinju youth, supports youth certification exam fees, holds job fairs, and runs a job support center.
The city continues to promote new projects for childbirth families and is committed to pregnancy support projects for newlyweds and creating a healthy and safe growth environment for children. In particular, Jinju plans to lay the foundation for young people to have quality jobs in specialized local fields such as the aerospace industry, root industries, and ceramic technology.
A city official stated, "We have prepared a place to listen to experts' opinions on Jinju's population policy and communicate with citizens. We hope this will be an opportunity to promote population policies that citizens can feel and to once again embrace hope for Jinju's development." The official also urged citizens to show great interest and participation so that diverse opinions can be gathered.
