SKT Launches AI Talent Search... Recruiting for AI Fellowship Program

SK Telecom announced on the 15th that it is recruiting applicants for the 6th class of the talent development program 'SKT AI Fellowship,' which discovers future talents in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

'SKT AI Fellowship' is a program that helps university (graduate) students studying AI grow into AI experts by providing corporate practical experience. SKT has been sponsoring this program for six years since 2019.

Participants conduct research using data from real corporate work sites, performing the same research as current developers, and receive direct mentoring from active developers, gaining practical experience in an environment similar to an actual development site.

To leap forward as a global AI company, SKT is accelerating AI technology research and development. For the 6th class of the ‘SKT AI Fellowship,’ research projects focused on generative AI such as large language models (LLM) and multimodal AI have been planned accordingly. Specific research areas include ▲Generative AI ▲Computer Vision and Media ▲Network Infrastructure AI. Participants will choose one of these three AI technology areas to carry out their research projects.

The program also provides networking opportunities for talents in the AI field to interact. In February, SKT held a homecoming day event for graduates of the 'SKT AI Fellowship' and operates both online and offline channels to enable talents active in various AI fields to participate and network.

Graduates receive the benefit of passing the first round of screening when applying for SKT’s new employee recruitment. SKT conducts written tests such as aptitude tests and coding tests (for development positions) as the first screening stage in new employee recruitment.

University (graduate) students wishing to participate in the 6th class of the ‘SKT AI Fellowship’ should form teams of up to three members and submit their research proposals on the website by May 6.

Selected teams will carry out actual research projects currently underway at SKT for five months from May to October, receiving up to 10 million KRW in research support funds and rewards per team.

An Jung-hwan, SKT’s Corporate Culture Officer, said, "We hope that participants in the ‘SKT AI Fellowship’ will experience vivid real-world environments and solidly build practical experience to grow into future talents in the field of artificial intelligence," adding, "SKT will continue to introduce various programs to nurture future AI talents."
