The symposium, attended by over 450 domestic and international critical care, trauma, and surgical specialists, was organized under the theme ‘Clinical Application of AI in Acute Care’ to share diverse knowledge and research related to critical and trauma patient management and emergency surgery, and to review the latest treatment trends. Professor Jae-Myung Lee of the Department of Critical Care Trauma Surgery at Korea University Anam Hospital served as the chair, and Professor Seung-Min Baek of the Department of Critical Care Surgery at Ewha Mokdong Hospital was the speaker.
In his presentation, Professor Seung-Min Baek emphasized the challenges of critical care management and the importance of early warning systems, explaining various studies and methods utilizing AI. In particular, Professor Baek introduced the use cases and clinical value of AITRICS-VitalCare (VC), an AI solution that predicts patient deterioration in actual clinical settings. He stated, “Early detection and treatment of reversible conditions is fundamental in medicine,” adding, “AI-based medical data analysis and research have become an important field.” He further explained, “VitalCare enhances prediction accuracy by utilizing patients’ real-time biometric signals along with biochemical and hematological indicators,” and added, “It provides medical staff with more precise interpretability, offering practical assistance.”
Professor Jae-Myung Lee, who chaired the session, commented, “In clinical settings where vast amounts of medical data are generated but resources to interpret them in real time are lacking, the use of AI with excellent performance is indispensable.” He evaluated, “VitalCare, which can accurately predict the timing for clinical decision-making in urgent situations such as sepsis and cardiac arrest, is highly meaningful as it helps many medical professionals and patients.”
Kwang-Jun Kim, CEO of AITRICS, said, “We are pleased to share the clinical value of VitalCare at the Korean Society of Trauma and Critical Care Surgery, a leading international academic conference in the field of critical care medicine.” He added, “AITRICS will continue to do its best to address unmet needs arising in domestic medical settings by sharing the clinical significance of VitalCare with medical professionals through collaboration with various academic circles.”
