Callaway Golf has introduced the ‘X-Forged Star Plus’ irons, which embody the ‘K-sonmat’ preferred by domestic golfers, targeting the Korean market. This line is released exclusively for the Korean market. It is the first product jointly developed by Callaway Golf’s U.S. headquarters and the Korean team.
Korea is the third largest golf equipment market in the world, following the U.S. and Japan. Callaway Golf explained the Korean iron market by saying, "Unlike the wood category, it has very unique and special elements. We judged that it was difficult to satisfy Korean golfers with only the global and Asian models released so far." They began research on the Korean iron market and completed Callaway’s first Korean-style irons.
The X-Forged Star Plus is a one-piece forged iron. It features the use of high-purity 1020C mild carbon steel material. It provides a soft hitting feel and consistent distance. Its strength lies in the ability to approach the green more precisely with powerful spin. The thin topline, sole, and long iron head design preferred by Korean golfers are impressive. It allows for a comfortable setup at address.
It is designed with optimal offset. This provides a comfortable swing and excellent forgiveness. It adopts a dynamic sole design applied to advanced models. The back of the sole is shaved to help the club glide smoothly through the turf. It is finished with premium matte milky chrome. This premium appearance also reduces light reflection to prevent glare.
The iron set comes in two options. First is the 5PAS (8-piece) configuration, which is most preferred by Korean golfers. The AW/SW, designed as professional wedges, resemble a combo iron set. It is similar to the S grind used in actual Callaway wedge designs. It allows shot control in various situations. Additionally, a 5P (6-piece) set with wedges is also offered for golfers who use wedges. This meets the diverse needs of Korean golfers.
The shaft options also include the NS Pro 950 & Modus 105 (NS PRO 950 & MODUS 105), which Korean golfers prefer most. The 5P configuration adds the DG MID 115. Despite having the specs of premium forged irons, it is priced competitively. All purchasers receive a premium iron cover set as a gift. To commemorate the launch of the X-Forged Star Plus irons, the official mall is holding a first-come, first-served trial event for 100 people. Buyers can use the irons for a month and return them if unsatisfied.
