Incheon City announced on the 15th that it will operate a 'Safety Report Reward System' that provides rewards of up to 200,000 KRW to encourage reporting of safety hazards in daily life.
The 'Safety Report Center' operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is a system that allows users to report safety hazards in daily life via an app or website. With mobile phone verification, even non-members can easily report hazards and inconveniences without separate registration.
This year, the city will select a total of 77 citizens who report through the Safety Report Center app or portal, including 20 outstanding reporters and 57 frequent reporters every six months, and will provide Onnuri gift certificates ranging from 50,000 KRW to 200,000 KRW.
The reporting categories include ▲seasonal focused reports ▲road and facility damage and malfunctions ▲construction site hazards ▲air and water pollution ▲fire safety ▲other safety and environmental hazards. Reports involving administrative penalties such as illegal parking and signal violations, or simple inconvenience reports like illegal advertisements and garbage, are excluded from reward eligibility.
According to the city, a total of 529,909 reports were filed through the Safety Report Center last year, a 31.41% increase compared to the previous year (403,222 reports), with illegal parking (353,619 reports) accounting for 66.7% of all reports. The city plans to promote seasonal focused reporting categories and review them as candidates for outstanding reports to improve the quality of safety reports.
Meanwhile, as a result of the safety report reward system evaluation in Incheon last year, a report on a damaged slide in a children's park that contributed to preventing safety accidents was selected as an outstanding report (150,000 KRW) in the first half of the year. In the second half, a report on the risk of a church cross tower falling, which contributed to pedestrian and property safety, was selected as the best report (200,000 KRW).
