Yeungnam University Celebrates Success... Produces 13 Members of Parliament in the 22nd General Election

In the 22nd National Assembly election, the power of Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) alumni was confirmed once again. In this election, Yeungnam University produced 13 members of the National Assembly from local constituencies.

Yeungnam University saw a large number of elected representatives from Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. By area, in Daegu, Joo Ho-young (Law 78) from Suseong (Gap), Lee In-seon (Food and Nutrition 78) from Suseong (Eul), Kim Sang-hoon (Law 82) from Seo-gu, Kim Seung-soo (Public Administration 83) from Buk-gu (Eul), Yoon Jae-ok (Graduate School of Business Administration, CEO Program 09) from Dalseo (Eul), Kwon Young-jin (CEO 15) from Dalseo (Byeong), Kang Dae-sik (Graduate School PhD 17) from Dong-gu·Gunwi (Eul), and Chu Kyung-ho (CEO 18) from Dalseong were elected, resulting in Yeungnam University alumni occupying 8 out of 12 seats in Daegu, more than half of the seats.


In the Gyeongbuk region, Kim Seok-ki (Public Administration 71) from Gyeongju and Jo Ji-yeon (Political Science and Diplomacy 06) from Gyeongsan were elected, totaling 2 members. In the Gyeonggi region, 3 Yeungnam University alumni were elected: Park Hae-cheol (Civil Engineering 84) from Ansan (Byeong), Chu Mi-ae (CEO 09) from Hanam (Gap), and Lee Sang-sik (CEO 16) from Yongin (Gap).


Representative Kang Dae-sik from Dong-gu·Gunwi (Eul) added to the joy by winning with the highest vote share in Daegu at 76.1%.

Additionally, Representatives Joo Ho-young from Suseong (Gap) and Chu Mi-ae from Hanam (Gap) reached the milestone of being elected for the sixth term, the most among the winners of the 22nd general election, while Representatives Jo Ji-yeon from Gyeongsan, Park Hae-cheol from Ansan (Byeong), and Lee Sang-sik from Yongin (Gap) won their first term seats.
