Reviewing Measures for Wildfire Preparedness and Resident Evacuation Plans
Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min visited the Gangneung Forest Aviation Management Office of the Korea Forest Service and the Gangwon Wildfire Prevention Center to inspect the aerial wildfire suppression system and the preparedness for spring wildfire prevention.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 13th, Minister Lee visited the Gangneung Forest Aviation Management Office of the Korea Forest Service to check the operation status of wildfire suppression helicopters and the aerial suppression system, and encouraged helicopter pilots and firefighting personnel on emergency duty.
He then visited the Gangwon Wildfire Prevention Center to inspect the spring wildfire prevention measures and the preparation status of the integrated command center at wildfire sites, urging full efforts to strengthen publicity, guidance, and enforcement for wildfire prevention.
He also reviewed the evacuation plans for local residents and support measures for evacuees.
Minister Lee said, "Since there is a high possibility of large wildfires occurring until next month, we must maintain a state of readiness to respond immediately without letting our guard down," adding, "We will establish a close cooperation system with local governments and related agencies to make every effort to prevent wildfires."
