Busan City to Hold 'Urban Agriculture Day Sharing Event' This Year

On the 13th at 10:30 AM, Busan Children's Grand Park, Hosted by the National Urban Agriculture Managers Association

Urban Agriculture Seed Sharing, Companion Plant Repotting Demonstration, and Urban Agriculture Consultation Booth Operation

Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) held the '2024 Urban Agriculture Day Sharing Event' on the morning of the 13th at 10:30 AM in the plaza area of Busan Children's Grand Park, hosted by the National Urban Agriculture Managers Association (Head Lee Jung-ho).

This event was organized to commemorate Urban Agriculture Day (April 11) and to promote urban agriculture to citizens.

Urban Agriculture Day is designated annually on April 11 to raise awareness of the importance of urban agriculture for creating a nature-friendly urban environment, established under the "Act on the Promotion and Support of Urban Agriculture" in 2017.

The event was planned as a participatory space where citizens can learn about and easily approach urban agriculture.

It is scheduled to include ▲urban agriculture seed sharing ▲demonstrations of repotting companion plants ▲operation of an urban agriculture consultation corner.

The Rural Development Administration and the Busan Regional Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation are sponsoring the event.

The city is promoting various urban agriculture revitalization projects this year as well, including garden creation, citizen healing projects, urban agriculture education programs, and citizen participation events under the slogan "A Warm Journey with Nature Found in Urban Gaps, Urban Agriculture."

Kim Byung-gi, Director of the Marine Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau of the city, stated, “Through this sharing event, we expect to not only promote urban agriculture but also to advance it with more citizens involved,” adding, “We ask for the continued interest of all citizens in urban agriculture, a warm companion with nature.”
