Breaking the All-Time Record in Just One Day
As reports emerge that Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel is imminent, international gold prices have surpassed $2,400 per ounce for the first time in history.
On the 12th (local time) at the New York Mercantile Exchange, as of 11:30 a.m. (Eastern Time), the June delivery gold futures price rose $45.3 (1.9%) from the previous day to $2,418.0 per ounce.
During the day, gold prices reached an intraday high of $2,448.8 per ounce, setting a new all-time record just one day after the previous high.
Gold prices first surpassed the $2,100 mark on the 4th of last month and then rose above the $2,300 level on the 3rd of this month, just one month later.
Iran has identified Israel as the party behind the bombing of its consulate in Syria on the 1st of this month and has warned of retaliation.
