Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the 'Seoul City One Mind Dementia Overcoming Walking Event' held on the morning of the 12th at the Culture Yard of Yeouido Park.
Hosted by Seoul City and the Seoul Metropolitan Dementia Center, about 1,000 participants including Mayor Choi, dementia patients and their families, volunteers, and citizens took part in the event, which featured a walking competition and various experience booths aimed at spreading positive awareness about dementia.
On this day, Mayor Choi practiced 'walking,' which is good for dementia prevention, encouraging interest and determination to overcome dementia. The district also operated a promotional booth for 'Making Your Own Eco Bag,' joining in support for overcoming dementia.
Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, “I am the only Seoul district mayor with a certified caregiver qualification, so I understand better than anyone the difficulties of elderly diseases and care.” He added, “We will further activate support programs like the ‘Caregiver Family Rest System,’ which has been operated since last year and received great response, and always do our best so that both dementia patients and their families can be happy.”
