The presidential office announced that South Korea and the United Kingdom will jointly hold the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Seoul Summit' for two days from the 21st to the 22nd of next month.

The AI Seoul Summit is a follow-up meeting to the 'AI Safety Summit' held last November at Bletchley Park in the United Kingdom.

This meeting will comprehensively discuss AI development plans that strengthen AI safety while promoting innovation and fostering inclusion and coexistence.

On the evening of May 21, the summit will be held virtually, and on the 22nd, a ministerial-level meeting will take place. The attending ministers plan to discuss more specific cooperation measures based on the discussions from the previous day's summit, including ways to enhance each country's AI safety capabilities and sustainable AI development plans.

Additionally, South Korea will take this opportunity to host the 'AI Global Forum' on the 22nd, inviting high-level officials from various countries as well as key figures from industry and academia. This follows President Yoon Suk-yeol's proposal to hold the forum during his keynote speech at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly last September.

The presidential office stated, "We expect the AI Global Forum, along with the AI summit hosted by our government, to establish itself as a platform that presents concrete directions for building a new AI global governance in the future."
