The Reserve Forces were established on January 21, 1968, following the incident in which North Korea infiltrated armed guerrillas to attack the Blue House.
With the goal of “Protecting my hometown, protecting my workplace,” they play the role of local guardians by participating in national defense, anti-infiltration operations, and protecting the lives and property of residents at various disaster and accident sites.
Reserve Forces Day is observed as a legal commemorative day on the first Friday of April every year, with commemorative events held nationwide.
