In his greeting, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said, "My mother has been suffering from dementia for several years now, so I understand well how dementia progresses and the emotional hardships dementia families endure," as he wiped away tears.

He continued, "We will do our best to create a dementia-safe city Seoul where dementia patients and their families can receive treatment with peace of mind, without fear or loneliness."

He also stated, "To share the pain of dementia patients and their families and to ease their difficulties, we are implementing various policies ranging from dementia prevention, early detection, treatment, and care, including operating Seoul's first hospital for severe dementia patients (Seobuk Hospital) and dementia care rest centers."
