Yeosu City Appoints 40 Citizen Auditors

Expecting the Realization of Fair and Transparent Clean Yeosu

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 11th that it appointed 40 members of the 7th Citizen Audit Committee at the city hall meeting room and has embarked on realizing a fair and transparent Clean Yeosu.

The 7th Yeosu City Citizen Audit Committee consists of a total of 40 members, including 13 experts in fields such as architecture, civil engineering, industrial safety, environment, and law, as well as 27 representative citizen auditors from towns and townships.

Over the next two years, the citizen auditors will participate in comprehensive audits of towns and townships, joint public-private mobile inspections, and perform roles such as ▲ identifying citizen inconveniences ▲ reporting illegal or improper administrative actions ▲ proposing improvements to unreasonable systems and practices ▲ conducting on-site audits of large construction sites ▲ making suggestions for city administration development ▲ providing reports and advice to enhance the integrity of public officials.

One newly appointed citizen auditor expressed, “As a citizen auditor, I will actively participate in advisory activities related to technical and professional fields and do my best to improve inconveniences that administrative power does not reach through active reporting.”

Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu said, “I hope you will actively express various opinions on the overall city administration to protect citizens’ rights and operate the city administration transparently.”

Meanwhile, Yeosu City has been operating the Citizen Audit Committee system since 2012, strengthening audit functions and striving to implement transparent audit administration.
