KOSPI, Foreigners and Individuals Jointly Buy... Defending the 2700 Level

The KOSPI closed slightly higher, holding the 2700 level thanks to combined buying by foreigners and individual investors. Notably, foreigners net purchased over 1 trillion won.

On the 11th, the KOSPI closed at 2706.96, up 1.80 points (0.07%) from the previous trading day.

By investor type, foreigners and individuals net purchased 1.0221 trillion won and 43.4 billion won, respectively. Institutions net sold 1.0796 trillion won.

By sector, transportation equipment rose 2.61%. Additionally, medical precision and electrical electronics sectors increased by more than 1%. Conversely, electric and gas utilities and insurance fell more than 3%. Telecommunications, finance, and services sectors also closed down more than 1%.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 84,100 won, up 500 won (0.60%) from the previous trading day. SK Hynix also rose 3.01%. Hyundai Motor and Kia were strong, rising 5.70% and 3.43%, respectively. On the other hand, NAVER and LG Chem closed down more than 2%.

On this day, 271 KOSPI stocks rose without any hitting the upper limit, while 610 stocks declined, including Starits which hit the lower limit. Forty-six stocks remained unchanged.

The KOSDAQ closed at 858.10, down 1.23 points (0.14%) from the previous trading day.

By investor type, foreigners and institutions net sold 24.9 billion won and 52 billion won, respectively. Meanwhile, individuals net purchased 81.3 billion won.

By sector, paper and wood rose 4.74%. Semiconductors and transportation sectors also increased by more than 1%. Conversely, construction fell 2.57%. Publishing and media reproduction, information devices, and distribution sectors declined more than 1%.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 239,000 won, up 2,500 won (1.06%) from the previous trading day. Dongjin Semichem rose 3.12%. On the other hand, Shinseong Delta Tech plunged 9.29%. HPSP fell 4.06%. Additionally, HLB and JYP Ent. closed down more than 1%.

On the KOSDAQ, 547 stocks rose, including Daeyang Paper, Biosmart, and Pungwon Precision hitting the upper limit. Meanwhile, 986 stocks declined without any hitting the lower limit, and 95 stocks closed unchanged.
