Reducing Access to Suicide Means and Coping Strategies
The Changwon Public Health Center's Changwon Mental Health Welfare Center in Gyeongnam conducted carbon monoxide poisoning suicide prevention education for about 250 lodging business owners in the district at Changwon Moonsung University on the 11th.
This education was prepared to reduce access to suicide means and to detect high-risk groups early in order to improve the suicide risk environment during the high-risk suicide period (March to May).
The training included mandatory installation of carbon monoxide alarms and response measures when they activate, as well as life keeper training for early detection and connection of high-risk suicide groups.
Jung Hye-jeong, director of Changwon Public Health Center, said, “Through this suicide prevention education for lodging business owners, we will do our best to block access to suicide means and provide early response to high-risk suicide groups.”
Meanwhile, since 2021, the Changwon Mental Health Welfare Center has been implementing a carbon monoxide poisoning suicide prevention environment improvement project targeting lodging businesses and is monitoring the suicide prevention environment of these establishments.
