Namhae-gun Conducts Joint Public-Private Inspection of 90 Facilities at Risk of Disaster Occurrence Namhae-gun, Intensive Safety Inspection for National Safety Transformation.

This intensive safety inspection will be carried out over 61 days from the 22nd of this month to June 21st at 90 facilities where disasters are likely to occur.

The national safety transformation, which began in 2015, is conducted annually with the participation of the government, local governments, and citizens to check the current status of safety management in our society and to identify and improve risk factors.

This year, Namhae-gun selected a total of 90 facilities as inspection targets based on delegated matters from central government ministries, results from collecting public opinions, and news analysis by media outlets. These include fishing village resorts, drinking water facilities such as water purification plants, bridges, and construction sites.

For an efficient intensive safety inspection under the safety transformation, Namhae-gun will promote a public-private joint inspection involving experts in civil engineering, architecture, electricity, gas, and firefighting. To this end, on the 9th, the county held an inauguration ceremony and advisory meeting for the public-private joint inspection team composed of 10 members of the Namhae-gun Safety Management Advisory Group and 3 Namhae-gun public officials.

Namhae-gun plans to take immediate corrective actions on minor issues found during safety inspections on site, and for serious issues, it will continue to manage them until risks are resolved through detailed safety diagnoses, repairs, and reinforcements.

Ha Hong-tae, Director of the Marine Environment Bureau, said, “Safety can never be emphasized enough,” and added, “Through this year’s national safety transformation, we will conduct effective safety inspections, improve and supplement any deficiencies, and ensure that residents can live safely.”
