Kia Also Makes Pickup Truck... Model Name is 'Tasman'

On the 11th, Kia announced the name of its first pickup truck as 'Tasman' and revealed its entry into the pickup market.

The name 'Tasman' is derived from Tasmania, an island located at the southernmost tip of Australia, and the Tasman Sea.

Tasmania, an island where diverse natural environments and rich culture harmonize, boasts stunning landscapes and a variety of wildlife, creating breathtaking scenery.

Kia reflected the image of the island, where bold pioneering spirit and the untouched mystery of nature coexist, in the name Tasman, emphasizing the versatile 'lifestyle pickup' image that inspires new challenges and inspiration both at work and in life.

Kia will sequentially launch the mid-size pickup Tasman in domestic markets, Australia, and the Africa-Middle East global markets starting in 2025. In Korea, outdoor leisure activities are increasing, and in Australia, interest in pickups is high enough that the term 'Ute' is widely used. The Africa-Middle East market, which features various off-road environments like deserts, also has strong demand for pickups.

Kia is previewing the launch of the Tasman through various videos. On this day, Kia released a video showing a blacksmith inspired by Tasmania crafting the Kia Tasman emblem.

Earlier, on the 3rd of last month, Kia also released a video on its Australian YouTube channel featuring famous Australian sports stars guessing the name of Kia’s new pickup truck.
