The election of Kim Eun-hye, the People Power Party candidate, in the National Assembly election for Seongnam Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, which was called a 'proxy war' between President Yoon Suk-yeol and Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been confirmed.

According to the Central Election Commission on the 11th, as of 2:18 a.m., with 87.79% of the votes counted in the Seongnam Bundang district, Kim secured 52.52% (62,720 votes), confirming her victory.

The second-place candidate, Kim Byung-wook of the Democratic Party of Korea, recorded 47.47% (56,688 votes).

Earlier, exit polls released at 6 p.m. by the three broadcasters KBS, MBC, and SBS showed Kim Byung-wook at 51.7% and Kim Eun-hye at 48.3%, but during the counting process, the lead changed hands multiple times before Kim Eun-hye's victory was finally confirmed.

Kim is classified as pro-Lee Jae-myung (친명), and since she previously served as the presidential office's chief public relations secretary, the Bundang district was referred to as a proxy battleground between Lee and President Yoon.
