Employee has permed hair... Delivery customer complaining about hair found in order caught red-handed

Victimized Business Owner Reports to Police

A story about a black consumer who repeatedly received free meals by falsely claiming "foreign substances were found in the delivered food" and getting refunds was reported on the 9th through JTBC's 'Case Manager'.

The informant, who runs a cafe in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, received a call last month from a customer claiming "there was a hair in the Greek yogurt." The informant said, "I was so surprised and felt sorry, so I immediately apologized and refunded the money." On the 5th, the same customer called again with the same complaint after ordering the same menu. After checking the caller ID, the owner confirmed it was the same customer and asked, "Just in case, please send me a photo of the hair." The foreign object was a short black straight hair, but checking the store's CCTV showed that the employees working at that time were two people with long brown permed hair.

Finding this suspicious, the informant shared the incident in a community of self-employed business owners, and there were several owners in the same neighborhood who had experienced similar incidents. After contacting those owners and sharing the last digits of the customer's phone number, it was confirmed to be the same customer.

The cake shop owner complained, "When I heard there was a bug in the cake, I tried to collect it, but the drink was not collected, and only the edge of the cake was left. We couldn't find any bug. However, I refunded the entire order amount, which was over 30,000 won." The delivery driver who collected the cake also revealed, "That house had a refund collection earlier in the morning due to a foreign substance issue."

The macaron shop also suffered damage. "When I requested collection, the customer responded, 'I submitted an application because the delivery platform sent me a URL to report to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.' Out of the 12 macarons ordered, 6 were eaten, and the drink was not collected. We couldn't find any bug, but we refunded everything," they said.

The customer claimed, "Although the order was placed through the business, this matter has nothing to do with me."

Lawyer Yang Ji-yeol, who appeared as a panelist, explained, "Currently, there are three victims, but we expect there to be more. The macaron shop has reported the case to the police. Since the customer was also reported as a black consumer, they can no longer use the delivery platform."
