On the 8th (local time), a total solar eclipse was photographed by NASA in Dallas, Texas, USA. As the moon's shadow completely covered the sun, the red corona was clearly visible emitting outward.

The corona is usually unobservable due to the bright light of the sun, and can only be seen during a total solar eclipse. Scientists use total solar eclipses to study the most challenging aspects of solar research, such as the heating of the corona's temperature and the acceleration mechanism of the solar wind.
