KOSPI Defends 2700 Level as Foreigners Stand Alone in Net Buying

The KOSPI closed slightly higher, supported by net buying from foreigners, maintaining the 2700 level.

On the 8th, the KOSPI closed at 2717.65, up 3.44 points (0.13%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, foreigners were the sole net buyers with 206 billion KRW. Individuals and institutions were net sellers with 92.8 billion KRW and 112.6 billion KRW, respectively.


By sector, the electric and gas industry rose 2.29%. Pharmaceuticals, insurance, and transportation equipment also increased by more than 1%. On the other hand, medical precision, construction, and machinery sectors fell by more than 1%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed unchanged at 84,500 KRW, the same as the previous trading day. Celltrion surged 6.20%. Hyundai Motor and Kia also rose more than 3%. Conversely, NAVER and LG Chem closed down more than 1%.


On this day, 278 stocks rose in the KOSPI, with Segisangsa hitting the upper price limit, while 593 stocks fell. Fifty-eight stocks closed flat.


The KOSDAQ closed at 860.57, down 11.72 points (1.34%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, foreigners and institutions were net sellers with 166.4 billion KRW and 170.1 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, individuals were net buyers with 347.9 billion KRW.


By sector, broadcasting services rose 1.24%. Pharmaceuticals, distribution, and telecommunications broadcasting services closed slightly higher within 1%. In contrast, the financial sector plunged 4.08%. Semiconductors and non-metal sectors fell more than 3%, while computer services, digital content, and medical precision equipment declined more than 2%. On this day, the KOSDAQ closed lower in most sectors except for four that rose.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 240,500 KRW, up 1,000 KRW (0.42%) from the previous trading day. HLB surged 7.90%, and Enchem and Celltrion Pharm also rose more than 3%. Conversely, EcoPro plunged 6.00%. Additionally, Samchundang Pharm fell 7.92%. Rino Industrial dropped more than 5%, and Shinseong Delta Tech declined more than 4%.


In the KOSDAQ, Studio Mir, Jeil Electric Industry, and JNTC hit the upper price limit, with 359 stocks rising. Meanwhile, 1,205 stocks fell without hitting the lower price limit, and 76 stocks closed flat.
