"Repeated Experiments Based on Tradition" Praised
Jeju Noodle Bar and Atoboy Ranked 16th and 30th Respectively

Seven Korean restaurants were included in the 'Top 100 Restaurants in New York 2024' list selected by the New York Times (NYT).

On the 1st, NYT announced the ranking of the best restaurants in the New York area, selecting the Korean restaurant 'Atomix' as 4th place. NYT introduced Atomix as "using new local ingredients such as locally harvested wild mugwort, repeatedly experimenting based on tradition, and serving meals with Korean ceramics, textiles, and chopsticks to evoke a broader Korean atmosphere."

At 16th and 30th places were 'Jeju Noodle Bar' and 'Atoboy,' respectively. NYT described the 'Mushroom Ramen' sold at Jeju Noodle Bar as "a meal in itself, accompanied by Parmesan cheese foam and lime." Regarding Atoboy, it praised it as "the place that best shows the vision of modern Korean cuisine."

Other restaurants within the top 100 included 'Okdongsik' in Manhattan at 40th place, 'Yoon Haeundae Galbi' at 52nd, 'Oiji Mi' at 77th, and 'Mapo Korean BBQ' at 91st. Notably, the pork bone soup sold at Okdongsik was also selected in NYT's '8 Best Dishes in New York This Year' announced last December. NYT stated, "The dish that makes Okdongsik the most valuable place for fine dining in New York is the 'pork bone soup,'" adding, "Each bowl is served with fluffy white rice and very thinly sliced pork."

The number one spot was awarded to Tatiana, a restaurant by American star chef Kwame Onwuachi. Peter Wells, the food critic who compiled and announced the ranking of New York's top 100 restaurants, said, "While New York is a big city, I tried to find 100 restaurants that represent New York's neighborhoods and people, and are worth visiting for hungry and curious customers."
