Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts Hygiene Consulting for Restaurants and Side Dish Shops

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 8th that it recently conducted hygiene consulting for small-scale restaurants and side dish stores in local neighborhood alleys.

This hygiene consulting targeted approximately 1,500 small-scale general restaurants under 150㎡ in area, side dish stores, and instant sales manufacturing and processing businesses such as mills, aiming to provide safe food to residents and revitalize the alley commercial districts.

The main contents of the hygiene consulting included compliance with key management items such as ▲personal hygiene management compliance according to industry-specific checklists ▲reuse of food ▲food storage standards ▲cleanliness management of business premises ▲food labeling, and Seo-gu conducted on-site education for improvements after verification.

For a professional consulting management system, Seo-gu designated responsible public officials and consumer food hygiene inspectors who received prior job training as dedicated consultants by district, and conducted the first round of consulting for all businesses last month.

Additionally, sequential second and third rounds of consulting will be promoted in the second half of the year for businesses with insufficient hygiene management levels.

Lee Sangyong, Director of the Health and Hygiene Division, said, “We will improve the hygiene level of alley restaurants closely connected to residents so that local residents can use them with confidence, thereby revitalizing the alley economy and laying the foundation for a high-quality food culture.”

Meanwhile, Seo-gu is producing and distributing a ‘Comprehensive Guidebook for Restaurant Operators’ to raise hygiene awareness among restaurant operators and is supporting hygiene supplies and other materials.
