Hamyang-gun Selected as an Outstanding Local Government for Identifying and Supporting Welfare Blind Spots

Selected Among 23 Local Governments Nationwide

Only One Selected in Gyeongsangnam-do

Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, was selected as an excellent local government for discovering and supporting welfare crisis households during the winter of 2023 and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluates local governments nationwide every year based on their independent efforts to identify crisis households, public-private cooperation, and exemplary cases, selecting 23 outstanding local governments to award. Hamyang-gun was the only one selected from Gyeongsangnam-do.

The county discovered and supported welfare crisis households in various ways by focusing on identifying and supporting welfare blind spots during the winter season and fostering a warm sharing culture through public-private cooperation.

Through the Gyeongsangnam-do Community Chest of Korea's 'Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign,' they raised 158 million KRW and received support worth approximately 180 million KRW from various organizations and institutions to protect welfare blind spots and vulnerable groups, focusing on discovering crisis households and spreading sharing during the winter.

County Governor Jin Byeong-yeong said, “This achievement was made possible thanks to the residents and welfare officials who joined forces to discover and support welfare crisis households,” adding, “We will continue to carefully look after neighbors in need and do our best to actively support crisis households.”
