Korea-Germany Basic Science Cooperation... IBS-Max Planck Center Establishment 추진 Patrick Cramer, President of the Max Planck Research Society

The Institute for Basic Science (IBS, President Noh Do-young) announced on the 8th that it will jointly hold the 'Global Science Leaders Forum' with the Max Planck Society (MPG, President Patrick Cramer) of Germany and Yonsei University (President Yoon Dong-seop) on the 11th at Yonsei University.

This forum was organized to strengthen strategic international cooperation among the three institutions and to actively establish a joint research system, including the establishment of the 'IBS-Max Planck Center.' IBS and MPG are also expected to sign a memorandum of understanding for promoting the establishment of the IBS-Max Planck Center and building educational cooperation programs.

MPG operates Max Planck Centers to conduct top-level international joint research with overseas institutions possessing world-class research capabilities. Currently, there are 17 centers in 9 countries, and in Asia, the only center is jointly operated with Japan's RIKEN.

President Noh Do-young of IBS stated, “IBS and MPG, representing basic science in both countries, will discuss strategic cooperation areas including quantum information science and the joint development of young researchers, and will engage in closer collaboration.”
