Monthly Animal Film Screening Event Held on the Theme of 'Animal Filming'

Seoul Animal Film Festival and the independent film theater Indiespace announced on the 8th that they will hold a 'Monthly Animal Film' screening event until August, according to 'Animal Rights Action Kara.'

Kara stated, "The theme running through this year's 'Monthly Animal Film' is 'Animal Filming'." They explained that the safety, rights, and welfare of animals on set should be fundamental principles considered in film production, and they hope these values will spread among audiences watching the films.

Hwang Miyojo, programmer of the Seoul Animal Film Festival, said, "When animal filming is conducted or should be conducted, we want to think about and discuss the ethics of animal filming, as well as the relationship between representation ethics and aesthetics."

The first program of the Monthly Animal Film is organized as the 6th Seoul Animal Film Festival (SAFF) short film selection under the slogan 'Where is the Animal's Home?'. The short film screening will take place on the 23rd at 7 p.m. at Indiespace on Yanghwa-ro, Mapo-gu, under the theme 'Filming Animals, Not Filming Animals.' The films Carp Christmas, Ten Steps, Nandri's Walking Path, The Wondrous Pain of the Wild Korean Azalea, and Gorilla Guard, Joy will be screened, and director Im Ojeong and actor Son Suhyeon will hold an Indie Talk session.
