Online Pharm recently held a donation ceremony for JVM's automatic pharmaceutical dispensing machine at the ‘Love Sharing Sponsorship Night’ held at the Gwangju Migrant Health Center. The ceremony was attended by Yoon Heon-sik, director of the Gwangju Migrant Health Center, Choi Chang-ok, director of the Gwangju Migrant Health Center, and Lim Seon, director of Online Pharm’s pharmacy sales department. Medical professionals active in medical volunteer organizations in the Gwangju area also participated.
Established in 2005, the Gwangju Migrant Health Center is a non-profit organization (NGO) based in Gwangju that conducts medical volunteer activities to support the healthy lives of migrants who are in medical blind spots due to communication difficulties or lack of national health insurance coverage.
The Gwangju Migrant Health Center continued non-face-to-face and outreach medical services due to COVID-19 and began full-scale operation of a free clinic in June 2022. Currently, there are a total of 1,629 medical volunteers in the Gwangju area, including 275 doctors and 80 pharmacists. Medical volunteer activities are held every Sunday. Since the first consultation in 2005, the number of visiting patients has steadily increased, reaching 3,463 migrant patients who received free medical treatment last year.
Yoon Heon-sik, director of the Gwangju Migrant Health Center, said, “It was regrettable that migrants, who play an important role in essential parts of our society, were being excluded from medical care,” and added, “Through Online Pharm’s support, we hope to guarantee migrants’ rights to essential medical care and provide high-quality medical services.”
An Online Pharm official said, “We are very pleased to be able to make a meaningful contribution to neighbors in medical blind spots,” and added, “We hope Online Pharm’s love-sharing will be well delivered to improve the health and quality of life of the medically underserved.”
