BTS J-Hope Ranks 5th on 'Billboard 200' with Special Album

K-Pop Solo Artist First to Enter 'Top 10' Twice Consecutively... Personal Best Ranking

Group BTS member J-Hope (Jung Hoseok) set a new record on the US Billboard main album chart with his special album "HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1."

According to Billboard's chart preview article on the 7th (local time), "HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1," released on the 29th of last month, ranked 5th on the "Billboard 200" chart dated the 13th. This corresponds to 50,000 album units recorded during the chart tracking period.

J-Hope entered the top 10 of the "Billboard 200" for the second time following his solo album "Jack In The Box," which climbed to 6th place on the September 2nd, 2022 chart. He is the first K-pop solo artist to have more than one album in the top 10 of the "Billboard 200." With "HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1," J-Hope achieved his highest ranking on this chart.

The "Billboard 200" ranking is calculated by combining traditional album sales such as physical albums, SEA (streaming equivalent albums), which converts streaming counts into album sales, and TEA (track equivalent albums), which converts digital track downloads into album sales. The sales volume of "HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1" amounts to approximately 50,000 units, with physical album sales at 44,000, SEA at 4,000, and TEA at 2,000 units respectively.

J-Hope's agency, Big Hit Music, explained that he has placed a total of three albums on the "Billboard 200." In March 2018, J-Hope ranked 38th on the "Billboard 200" with his first mixtape "Hope World."

BTS has achieved six number-one rankings on the "Billboard 200" with team albums, and K-pop solo artists also hold all top six positions on the "Billboard 200."

"HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1," which ranked 5th this time, is an album that reflects J-Hope's artistic roots in street dance, embodying his identity and original intentions.
