Jindo-gun Selected for 2025 Jeonnam-Style Affordable Housing Contest

20 Billion Invested... Expectation for Youth Population Influx and Stable Living Foundation Establishment

Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do has been selected for the ‘Jeonnam-style Ten-Thousand-Won Housing’ public contest organized by Jeollanam-do.


According to the county on the 6th, Jeonnam-style Ten-Thousand-Won Housing is aimed at preventing the outflow of young people and ensuring stable settlement by building more than 50 rental apartments with exclusive areas of 84㎡ (32 pyeong) and 60㎡ (24 pyeong) or less for youth and newlyweds, where tenants pay only 10,000 won per month without a deposit.


The residence period is up to 6 years for youth and up to 10 years for newlyweds. Youth can extend once depending on employment status, and newlyweds can extend 1 to 2 times depending on the number of children they are raising.

In particular, a total of 20 billion won will be invested by adding 5 billion won from the county budget to 15 billion won from the provincial budget to newly build 60 Ten-Thousand-Won Housing units in the Jindo-eup area, providing a stable residential environment for youth and newlyweds.


Jeonnam-style Ten-Thousand-Won Housing is a collaboration between Jeollanam-do and Jeonnam Development Corporation, with construction scheduled to start in January 2025 and move-in targeted for April 2026.


County Governor Kim Hee-su said, “With the selection for this public contest, we plan to reduce the economic burden on youth and newlyweds living in Jindo and create a stable residential environment. We also hope that the construction of Ten-Thousand-Won Housing will prevent population outflow caused by lack of housing and attract population inflow to Jindo-gun, a clean and livable area.”


Meanwhile, in February, Jindo-gun was selected for the 2024 Rural Nursing and Welfare Workforce Dormitory Construction Project to provide a stable residential environment for nursing and welfare personnel needed due to increasing medical and welfare demands, and plans to build a dormitory accommodating 30 nursing and welfare personnel with completion targeted for 2025.


Additionally, at the end of 2022, Jindo-gun Office constructed the second dormitory for public officials, ‘Cheongnyeom-bil,’ creating 40 studio-type rooms to prioritize solving housing issues for new public officials.
