Ruling Party Queries Election Commission on 'Import of Japanese Shampoo'
Han Dong-hoon, Emergency Response Committee Chairman and General Election Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, said on the 6th, "Is it okay to go to the polling station carrying Japanese shampoo, forged certificates of commendation, corporate cards, or photos of actresses?"

When Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the Central Election Commission's restriction on bringing green onions into early voting stations to prevent political activities as 'green onion ban,' Chairman Han responded by citing items that remind him of Lee and Cho Guk, leader of the Cho Guk Innovation Party.
At a campaign rally in Busan that day, Chairman Han pointed out, "The Democratic Party, including Leader Lee Jae-myung, keeps mocking the rule that 'green onions cannot be brought into the polling station.'
He said, "First, I would like to apologize. We should have done better with the cost of living. We did our best, but it was insufficient," adding, "We will do our best to control the cost of living."
At the same time, he emphasized, "What did the Democratic Party do? Besides mocking and politically exploiting the green onion issue like this, did they do anything else?" and said, "We should not ridicule politics. Seeing such incidents only strengthens our resolve to seriously engage in politics for you."
The People Power Party's Clean Election Headquarters sent an official letter to the Election Commission on the same day, inquiring whether it is permissible to bring Japanese shampoo, sushi lunch boxes, corporate cards, recordings of sister-in-law's abusive language, forged certificates of commendation, etc., into the polling station.
They added, "We condemn the Democratic Party for using even the Election Commission's measures to ban political activities inside polling stations as negative material."
This is interpreted as an intention to emphasize that the Election Commission's restriction on bringing green onions is a principled measure to prohibit political activities inside polling stations, and that items related to opposition party figures, like green onions, cannot be brought in for political purposes.
