People Power Party Files Criminal Complaint Against Opposition Lawmakers Involved in Allegations of School Violence Against Han Dong-hoon's Son

On the 5th, the People Power Party announced that it would file a complaint with the Supreme Prosecutors' Office against Democratic Party lawmaker Kang Min-jung and Innovation Party lawmaker Hwang Un-ha, accusing them of raising allegations of school violence related to Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman.

The party's Central Election Countermeasures Committee Clean Election Headquarters stated in a notice that "Lawmaker Kang, in collusion with a reporter from an online media outlet, falsely announced twice that Chairman Han's son was involved in school violence, despite there being no such facts, at a time close to the early voting day for the 22nd National Assembly election."

Regarding lawmaker Hwang, they said, "Despite there being no facts that Chairman Han's son committed school violence, he falsely announced a press conference titled ‘People Power Party Han Dong-hoon Emergency Committee Chairman’s Son School Violence Allegations’ through methods such as reserving a press conference at the National Assembly." They also stated, "Anonymous netizens who spread this content on internet communities also disseminated false information."

In this regard, the People Power Party filed complaints against lawmaker Kang, lawmaker Hwang, and the online media reporter for violating the Public Official Election Act.

Additionally, mentioning the real name of another online media reporter, they said, "Around March, in front of the middle school gate where Chairman Han Dong-hoon's son is enrolled, the reporter threatened an unspecified number of young students by randomly questioning them while holding a camera, causing emotional abuse harmful to the child's mental health and development," and announced a complaint for violating the Child Welfare Act.

A representative of the People Power Party Clean Election Headquarters criticized, "Despite the school violence being a clear falsehood, opposition party lawmakers and online media colluded to report false information," adding, "They attempted to spread false information by riding on this."
