Geochang-gun Implements Safety Training for Disaster Prevention Afforestation Project

Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 4th that it held the groundbreaking ceremony for the 2024 afforestation project at the Geochang Forest Leisure Sports Park located in Goje-myeon, with about 20 participants including forestry business corporations, design and supervision companies, and workers.

Geochang-gun is conducting safety training for the 2024 afforestation project to prevent disasters.

At this groundbreaking ceremony, education was provided on the direction of the afforestation project and work procedures. Additionally, due to the recent continuous occurrence of safety accidents at forestry sites, discussions were held on establishing a workplace safety and health management system related to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

County officials and disaster prevention specialized guidance agencies jointly conducted safety training by directly demonstrating the procedure of safety inspection meetings in a way that employers could easily understand.

Meanwhile, the county plans to invest approximately 1.4 billion KRW this year to plant about 640,000 trees over a total area of 231 hectares across four projects, including regionally specialized afforestation, to build a foundation for sustainable forest management.
