IKEA Korea Revamps Delivery Service... Charges Based on Weight Regardless of Region

Introduction of Pre-shipment, Delivery Time Slot Selection, and Business-only Delivery

IKEA Korea will revamp its furniture delivery service starting from the 4th.

IKEA Korea will segment delivery fees based on the weight of the products and apply them uniformly nationwide. The minimum delivery fee has been reduced nearly threefold from the previous 29,000 KRW to 10,000 KRW, with fees set at 10,000 KRW for under 25 kg, 30,000 KRW for under 300 kg, 50,000 KRW for under 600 kg, and 70,000 KRW for under 1,000 kg (an additional 30,000 KRW for Jeju Island). Previously, IKEA Korea's furniture delivery service charged 29,000 KRW for the metropolitan area and Busan, and 39,000 KRW for other regions based on an order volume of 5㎥, resulting in varying delivery fees by region.

Service options to enhance convenience have also been strengthened. Customers choosing standard delivery can select their preferred delivery date and time slot within 3 to 15 days from the order date, choosing between morning (09:00?14:00) and afternoon (14:00?20:00) time frames. For customers who want faster delivery, a priority delivery service has been introduced, guaranteeing delivery within 1 to 2 days for an additional 10,000 KRW, mainly targeting the metropolitan area and regions near Busan where stores are located (excluding some areas).

The ‘Business Delivery Service’ for customers operating small businesses has also been newly revamped. This service features customized delivery by assigning a dedicated delivery vehicle at the customer's preferred time. The delivery fee is 150,000 KRW per 1,000 kg (with an additional 100,000 KRW for areas outside the metropolitan area, Busan, and nearby regions). Customers requesting assembly service can use it at a special discounted rate of 10% off.

An IKEA Korea representative stated, “We have revamped our furniture delivery service to offer a wide range of delivery options that meet the rapidly changing needs of our customers,” adding, “IKEA Korea will continue to strive to provide better services so that more people can create happy lives with IKEA’s home furnishing products and solutions.”
