The 28th Korea-Japan National Tax Service Commissioners Meeting
The National Tax Service (NTS) announced on the 3rd that it held the 28th Korea-Japan National Tax Service Commissioners' Meeting.
Since 1990, the National Tax Services of Korea and Japan have regularly held commissioners' meetings to share systems and experiences for the development of tax administration in both countries. At this meeting held in Korea, the Korea-Japan National Tax Service Commissioners discussed the tax administration operation plans and major tax issues for 2024 in both countries.

Kim Chang-gi, Commissioner of the National Tax Service, shared initiatives centered on "Providing the Best Taxpayer Service through K-Electronic Tax Administration Innovation," including ▲revamping the customized Hometax system for taxpayers ▲pre-filled tax return service ▲and the artificial intelligence (AI) telephone consultation system. Sumisawa Hitoshi, Commissioner of the Japan National Tax Agency, introduced measures to establish the electronic tax invoice system, which has been in effect since October last year, in relation to the "Digital Transformation of Tax Administration."
Additionally, the two countries' National Tax Services agreed to further develop information exchange to combat offshore tax evasion and mutual agreement procedures to resolve double taxation for corporations.
Furthermore, Commissioner Kim requested interest and support for the successful hosting of the 53rd Asia-Pacific National Tax Service Commissioners' Meeting scheduled to be held in Korea this October.
