Maeil Dairies Acquires Bread Brand 'Mildo' to Expand Bakery Business

Mildo is a bread specialty bakery brand founded in 2015 by Chef Jeon Ik-beom, a former instructor at Tokyo Cooking School in Japan. It currently operates about 10 stores nationwide. Previously, it was known as a "bakery where people line up" in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu. In 2022, Maeil Dairies had released a vegan bread called 'Amazing Oat Whole Wheat Bread' in collaboration with Mildo.

Maeil Dairies expects to create synergy with its dessert subsidiary 'M's Bakers' through the acquisition of Mildo's business rights. Earlier, in 2021, Maeil Dairies established M's Bakers, a new corporation, to strengthen its bakery and dessert business. It was established by splitting off the in-house CK Dessert Business Division to reinforce the bakery business that had been operated internally.

A Maeil Dairies representative said, "We expect synergy not only with Maeil Dairies but also with our subsidiary M's Bakers." He added, "We anticipate expanding our rapidly growing business-to-business (B2B) operations and online market presence, while laying the groundwork for long-term expansion of our bakery business into the global market."
