South Korean Government "Afghan Taliban to Be Removed from Terrorist Organization List"

The Russian government announced on the 2nd (local time) that it is pursuing a plan to remove the Afghan Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations and recognize their entity.


Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, said this during a briefing on the same day. He explained, "The Taliban effectively hold real power in Afghanistan," and added, "We are continuing communication with the Taliban to resolve urgent issues."

The previous day, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told TASS news agency, "The issue of removing the Afghan Taliban from Russia's list of terrorist organizations is being worked on by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and various special agencies," and stated, "The final decision will be made by the country's highest political leadership."


Jamir Kabulov, Director of the Second Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Russia's presidential envoy for Afghan affairs, said that they are cooperating with the Taliban on counterterrorism issues and that a Taliban delegation has been invited to the Russia-Islamic World Forum to be held in Kazan from the 14th to the 19th of next month.


Regarding the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria, Peskov condemned the attack, saying, "While we will not rush to conclusions, such actions in any case constitute a fundamental violation of international law and an act of aggression."


The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also urged, "Israel's aggressive actions are absolutely unacceptable and must be stopped."
