Yoon, "Speed up follow-up measures to quickly realize policy effects of the People's Livelihood Debate"

Chairing the Follow-up Action Review Meeting After the Minsheng Discussion Forum

President Yoon Suk-yeol, regarding the policies announced at the Livelihood Discussion Forum on the 2nd, ordered, "Each ministry should swiftly carry out follow-up measures to ensure that the effects of the policies appear more quickly, and find policy promotion methods that match the public's perspective so that citizens can easily find and benefit from the policies." The intention is to ensure that the policies presented during the 24 sessions of the Livelihood Discussion Forum are fully realized so that the public can feel their impact.

On the afternoon of the same day, President Yoon presided over a follow-up action inspection meeting on the 'social sector' Livelihood Discussion Forum at the Government Complex Sejong under the theme of 'A government that takes care of livelihoods until problems are resolved' and made these remarks.

The Presidential Office explained that the meeting was organized to check the implementation of rapid action tasks from the Livelihood Discussion Forum and future plans, and to deliver improved policies to the public in an easy-to-understand manner. Since January, President Yoon has held 24 Livelihood Discussion Forums over about three months, listening to the demands of the people and announcing policy tasks related to citizens, businesses, and local governments.

President Yoon said, "While conducting the Livelihood Discussion Forums, I repeatedly emphasized two things," adding, "'One is to not just review but to act quickly,' and 'the second is the principle of breaking down walls.'"

He continued, "As a result of this approach to the Livelihood Discussion Forums, the government has decided on a total of 240 follow-up tasks, and on average, about 10 government action tasks are identified and swiftly resolved after each forum," mentioning representative tasks announced at the forums such as accelerating the construction of GTX to resolve metropolitan area transportation issues, medical reform, and Neulbom School.

He also mentioned tasks that were immediately resolved through the Livelihood Discussion Forums. In fact, at the 10th Livelihood Discussion Forum held on February 8, after hearing the unfair story of a self-employed person who was suspended from business due to being deceived by a forged youth ID, President Yoon immediately instructed the responsible officials on-site to resolve the issue. In response, the government promptly issued an official document and revised the related enforcement decree at the Cabinet meeting on the 26th of last month. Other actions implemented include one-stop administrative services, disclosure of probability-type items, and collective and distributed damage relief measures.

Furthermore, President Yoon emphasized, "Through the Livelihood Discussion Forums, we have created tangible changes by easing regulations felt by the public in their daily lives," adding, "Since deciding to abolish the Device Distribution Act, the government has immediately implemented what it can do, such as revising enforcement decrees, resulting in expanded subsidies for device purchases and the launch of various rate plans, thereby reducing the public's communication expenses."

Following this, Bang Ki-seon, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, reported the progress of follow-up measures from the Livelihood Discussion Forums to President Yoon, and presentations and discussions were held on excellent achievements and cases including ▲one-stop administrative services ▲large mart business regulations ▲strengthening rights of game users ▲abolition of the Device Distribution Act ▲Neulbom School ▲improvements in youth ID verification.

After the discussion, Jang Mi-ran, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, reported on the 'National Policy Communication Plan' to easily convey improved policies to the public.

Attending today's forum were Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho, Minister of Science and ICT Lee Jong-ho, Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yoo In-chon, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Duk-geun, Minister of SMEs and Startups Oh Young-joo, Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission Kim Hong-il, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Bang Ki-seon, and Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission Han Ki-jung from the government side. From the Presidential Office, Policy Chief Sung Tae-yoon, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs Jang Sang-yoon, and Senior Secretary for Science and Technology Park Sang-wook were present.
