The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that the (tentatively named) Daejeon Munchang Public Library has been selected for the '2024 School Complex Facility Contest Project.'

The Daejeon Munchang Public Library is expected to receive approximately 8 billion KRW from the Ministry of Education through this contest project, out of a total project cost of 20 billion KRW.

The complex facility will be built on the site of Daejeon Munchang Elementary School and will include not only library facilities but also a small performance hall, cultural spaces, and Neulbom educational spaces, providing various programs for students, parents, and local residents.

In the Daejeon area, including the Daejeon Munchang Public Library, school complex facilities are being installed or planned at five schools.

Lee Seung-jin, Director of Facilities at the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, “We plan to focus on attracting specialized libraries for children and youth that can offer after-school and care programs, children's swimming pools capable of survival swimming and practical education for elementary students, and cultural welfare facilities to revitalize the old downtown and underserved areas.”
