Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency Announces Call for Support Projects in Carbon Convergence Material and Component Demonstration 사업

Creation of Markets and Around 15 Idea-Based Entries... Submission Deadline Until the 18th

The Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency (Acting Director Yoo Kyung-min, hereinafter referred to as KCIPA) announced on the 2nd that it will secure technological competitiveness in six major carbon materials and convergence component technologies through customized demonstration support for industrial sites.

According to KCIPA, it is recruiting capable participating organizations (companies) to lead the carbon convergence materials and components industry through demand-linked product commercialization until the 18th.

The carbon convergence materials and components demonstration project aims to create a market by applying domestically produced carbon materials and convergence components to actual demand sites, commercializing and industrializing the technology. It supports performance evaluation through data collection and analysis, including manufacturing and improvement of parts using carbon materials, quality certification, and reliability verification.

This year, about 15 projects will be supported. The fields are divided into ▲market creation type (up to 700 million to 900 million KRW per year) and ▲idea type (up to 300 million KRW per year). The market creation type recruits performing companies by dividing into corporate demand and public demand types.

The carbon convergence materials and components demonstration project is open to any company possessing technology based on six major carbon materials?carbon fiber, graphene, carbon nanotubes, artificial graphite, activated carbon, and carbon black?and forming a consortium between supply and demand companies.

The market creation type is conducted in a designated public offering format, while the idea type allows free proposal of items for spreading the carbon industry ecosystem and market creation. The demonstration project period is up to 3 years for the market creation type and up to 2 years for the idea type, with a 5-year performance utilization period after completion.

Applications can be made through the KCIPA website’s notice board and the Pan-Ministry Integrated Research Support System. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Promotion Project Office of the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency.

A KCIPA official stated, "The carbon convergence materials and components demonstration project supports the development of commercialization technologies using six major carbon materials," adding, "It supports technology development such as space launch vehicle parts and bonding materials for next-generation mobility, enhancing the technological competitiveness of the domestic carbon convergence industry."
