Creative Arts Future Space → School Complex Facility... Project Cost 19.4 Billion Won

Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education (Superintendent Seo Geoseok, hereinafter Jeonbuk Office of Education) announced on the 1st that Sunchang-gun was finally selected in the '2024 School Complex Facility 1st Public Contest Project' hosted by the Ministry of Education.

According to the provincial office of education, school complex facilities refer to cultural, sports, and welfare facilities within the region that students and local residents can use together by utilizing school and idle facilities. Swimming pools, libraries, and gymnasiums will be installed.

The Sunchang school complex facility was originally planned as a creative arts future space for students, but it holds great significance as the result of an educational cooperation project in which both the project budget and scale were expanded through several consultations between the Office of Education and Sunchang-gun.

The Sunchang school complex facility will be installed in Sunhwa-ri, Sunchang-eup, Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk, consisting of a creative arts future space and two indoor sports facilities.

The creative arts future space will serve as a space for Sunchang-gun students, including a VR experience center, drone soccer field, and future creative workshop, while the indoor sports facilities will include an inline skating rink, futsal field, basketball court, and volleyball court.

The total project cost has also increased from 6.7 billion KRW to 19.4 billion KRW. It secured 5.7 billion KRW from its own funds, 4 billion KRW from Sunchang-gun, and 9.7 billion KRW from the Ministry of Education's complex facility project funds.

The Jeonbuk Office of Education is currently promoting the purchase of a public office site in Sunchang-gun by changing it into a youth training facility for the installation of the school complex facility. Once the land purchase is completed in the second half of this year, it plans to accelerate the completion of the complex facility through design services.

Superintendent Seo Geoseok said, "It will support the cultural arts and sports activities of youth in the Sunchang area and greatly help improve the living conditions of local residents."
