'Living Quarantine Takes Root'... Incheon Yeonsu-gu Expands Safe Apartments in Community Facilities

Yeonsu-gu, Incheon announced on the 1st that it has expanded the number of community facility safe apartments from the existing 8 complexes to 26 complexes this year to respond to new infectious diseases and create a safe quarantine environment in daily life.

Considering the regional characteristic that 80% of residents live in apartments, this project, which was first implemented nationwide last year, aims to establish quarantine guidelines for apartment residents' communal facilities to create a safe quarantine environment against infectious diseases.

Until now, there were no individual quarantine guidelines for apartment residents' communal facilities with different operating methods such as sports facilities, rest restaurants, bathhouses, and study rooms. Last year, the district selected 8 safe apartments nationwide for the first time and applied customized quarantine guidelines. It achieved a 100% improvement rate in self-quarantine inspection compliance, water quality tests, and APT tests, as well as a 99.25% satisfaction survey rate, drawing attention as an excellent case of public-private cooperation.

In Yeonsu-gu, there are 81 apartment complexes operating community facilities such as gyms, golf practice ranges, water play facilities, study rooms, and senior citizen centers, accounting for 46% of the total, operating a total of 560 community facilities in 18 categories. Accordingly, the district plans to expand the number of safe apartments with community facilities safe from infectious diseases to 26 complexes to create a quarantine environment centered on living spaces and gradually extend it to all complexes in the area.

The selected apartments will receive support such as living quarantine guidelines tailored to the characteristics of each community facility, infectious disease information posters by period, facility environmental inspections, quarantine education for facility managers and residents, and quarantine supplies.

In particular, the district plans to develop and organize living quarantine guidelines categorized by facility environment and divided into management and resident versions according to the frequency of infectious disease occurrence and epidemic periods. Incentives will also be provided to excellent complexes and managers.

A Yeonsu-gu official stated, "We will carefully support to induce voluntary participation of apartment complexes to create a more pleasant quarantine environment and a safe city," adding, "We will establish a safe quarantine environment in daily life through thorough quarantine even in small-scale multi-family housing."
